That link reports that French alternative media outlets are being closed down, under cover of emergency legislation following the Paris bombings

That one reports that people who were allegedly organising protests against climate change were put under house arrest in France. Again emergency laws were used to effect this and apparently those laws ban all kinds of protest

In this country we are being treated to a big push for support for bombing Syria, and much talk of how the attack on Paris makes this essential: though there is not much attempt at making a coherent case for this. Seems it is not necessary because the logic is supposed to be self evident. Interestingly enough the feeble case that has been made includes the fantasy that 70,000 Syrian armed moderates are available to do the fighting on land, which is essential for air strikes to work (whatever work means, in this context). If they exist then where are they? After all, lots of folk have been bombing Syria for quite a while now, so you'd think we would have seen this force in action by now. Wouldn't you?

To me, the atrocity in Paris seems to be being used to restrict our freedoms even further. And it that is so, then the victims died in vain. Because the story I have been told is that Islamic extremists attack us because they hate our freedoms. I don't believe that,I hasten to add. But if it were true, then they are certainly winning, judging from these moves
