I have often been struck by the similarities between our current situation and that in the 1930's. And I have also remembered some of the cartoons of that period, and how apt they are for today. So this thread is intended to show those similarities through political posters which were produced in the past. There was similar art in the era before the first world war as well, and for the same reasons, arguably

As noted in other places on this board, there is a sustained attack on support for the disabled in this country, through bogus capability for work assessments, disguising the true aim which is to cut benefits. The text on the linked poster says, as far as I can make out (german speakers correct me if necessary)

I understand it was a poster in support of the Nazi party in the early 1930's

This one was reproduced on a blog very recently. It addresses the very current claim that we are "all in this together". It wasn't true then and it isn't true now. What is interesting is that this one is a product of the UK labour party in 1911: how very different from the New Labour stance of our own times
