This is an interesting paper. It seems to be an example of an experimental approach to the effects of "markets" on moral behaviour. From the text this seems to be something which is being done quite widely, and in various ways (see Kahnmann's papers on the value of financial traders in another thread, for a different example)

I quite like this approach. It is true that it simplifies and models, and to that extent suffers from all the usual problems of applying "hard science" approaches to "social science" questions. But unlike the mainstream economists, who use mathematical models predicated on completely unwarranted assumptions, like "rational expectations", for example, this at least attempts to address what people are actually like, by running a "control" condition. The results are interesting.

You don't' need to accept the interpretation of the outcomes ( that is, the explanations for what is observed) if you don't want to. The outcome is what it is, however.

It is an earthshaking experiment. I like it very much. Beautifully done.
