I know baseball is a terrible sport and all, but I'm sure there are easier ways to escape it.

I wanted to link to an SNL video, but couldn't find the specific one I was looking for...I looked for another one and couldn't find a good quality version. :(

And shouldn't this be a Depot rather than Depo?

You're right and I wasn't thinking. But now I've grown attached to the name already. It's so nouveau-edgy-contemporary, you know?

This is just amazing :D

ETA: without wishing to be critical I did find it interesting that the "ascent of man" section took the philosophical stance that it did. It is perhaps essential to the narrative arc, but it is instructive to see that we are carried along so readily: perhaps everyone is given pause by that, as I was. But I did not have the thought any earlier in my viewing and that was also educational for me

It is an absolutely amazing video! Wow!

But what do you mean with the philosophical stance?

It is not a neutral position, IMO. The "nature red in tooth and claw" theme is endemic to the story. I did not really grasp that till the ascent of man part: but you will see that the whole tale is of men and weaponry: which fits the narrative of the whole piece. There is nothing essential to that: but it is still quite a mainstream story we are programmed to accept without question.

You could tell the story differently: a tale of cooperation and social development. The first artefact could be a pot not a spear (it is just as likely in reality). So there is a message about the nature of life and man in this video: it is not just an account

Does that make it any clearer?
